[edit] Basic techniques
[edit] Pass
There are two way to perform a pass, so called "space pass" and "lmb pass". Lmb passes are covered in the advanced techniques.
Giving space pass
To perform a space pass, you need to select a player you want to pass to. To do it you need to point the mouse cursor on him, which will also turn you to that player. The arrow near that player will tell you what kind of pass will be made once you hit the pass button.
This means that you will do a low pass along the ground. Such passes are slow and can only be made in short distance.
This means that you will do a pass to your teammate's feet, but the ball will fly through the air rather than on the ground.
This means that the ball will go to your teammate's head.
Note, that in 7 a-side and 11 a-side games it is impossible to select goalkeeper as target.
Receiving space pass
This is the other end of the exchange as a player who is targeted for a pass by the ball-carrier will see yellow rings around their feet. When you see this on your player you know that the ball is likely to be coming your way soon, so it is a good idea to maintain the same pace and avoid sudden changes of direction.
3 Your Player
When the rings turn red, this means that the ball has been released by your team-mate and is coming your way. Often, you will also see that there is a dotted line on the pitch. This shows the potential path of the ball, so you can be sure that if you meet this line at the point the ball arrives then you will gain possession. It sounds complicated in words, but it'll be instinctive when you play.
You will also often see that there is a green and white ball icon on the edge of the screen. When the ball is out of your view, i.e. off the edge of the screen, this icon will show you where it is in relation to your position so you are free to focus on getting into a dangerous position rather than having to look around for the ball at all times. The size of the icon will increase and decrease depending on how far away the ball is.
[edit] Shot
When you have the ball and your cursor is pointing within the opponent's goal the intellicursor will change again to indicate that you can take a shot. You can aim the shot to the specific point in the goal. To perform the shot, you need to either click lmb or hold it for some time to generate some power. If power indicator will go red, it means, that you have overpowered the shot and your accuracy will be significally decreased. On the picture below, if player will hit LMB, he will shoot to the far corner and if he will press space, he will pass to the teammate on his right.
[edit] Tap Forward
Tapping the ball forward is a simple technique that allows you to run with the ball faster or without losing stamina. To do it just click LMB when you run or sprint with the ball to knock the ball up front a couple of meters in the very direction you are running. The idea behind it is the same like in real life - you will be running without the ball and it will make you run faster. Also your stamina will be burning out at slower rate.
[edit] Tackle
To perform a tackle, you need to press tackle button when you are near the ball carrier. This will result either a successful tackle or a bounce off the ball carrier. The success depends on body positions and also on tackling, ball control and hardiness (if tackle comes from behind) stats. If successful, tackle will give you a control of the ball. Tackle can not result in a foul.
[edit] Sliding Tackle
To perform sliding tackle, you need to press sliding tackle button when you are near the ball carrier. This will result in either a successful sliding tackle or a foul. The distance you slide depend on opponent's hardiness stat, so your slides distance varies depending on the opponent. Slides are usually performed when the ball carrier is about to unleash a shot, so you don't have time to come and take the ball with some other ways).Sliding tackles are also occasionally used to block passes, shots and to chop an opponent when it makes sense to commit a foul. You can also score goal with a sliding tackle. If successful, sliding tackle knocks the ball off the ball carrier, but it does not give you a control of the ball. You need to get up and get to the loose ball first.
[edit] Interception
You can intercept the ball with or without using preload. If you preloaded a pass or a shot and the ball is flying or rolling near you, your preload will turn red and your character will move towards the ball. If you will get to the ball first, your character will perform the preloaded action (pass or shot). Sometimes you can intercept the ball without preload by just running into the passing lane.
